Recurring bills

Recurring shared expenses: how to track bills that come back every month

Track recurring rent, subscriptions, utilities, insurance, memberships, and household bills with clear splits and predictable settlement.

Recurring expenses are easy to ignore because they feel automatic, but they are often the reason shared balances become confusing. Rent, internet, streaming, insurance, memberships, and utilities should be visible before they create tension.

List every recurring bill

Start with rent, utilities, internet, streaming subscriptions, insurance, storage, shared software, memberships, and any monthly household service. Add the payer, due date, amount, and split rule.

Use the right split rule per bill

Rent may be equal, income-based, or bedroom-size based. Streaming may be split only by active users. Utilities may be equal unless one person has a special arrangement.

Review changes monthly

Recurring does not mean permanent. Prices change, roommates move, subscriptions get canceled, and usage changes. A monthly review keeps the system honest.
